Liga Calveth (Vola)

Overview

The nation of Calveth’s professional Vola league, Liga Calveth includes 60 Vola teams competing across three tiers: the Øverste Niveau, the Andet Niveau, and the Tredje Niveau. Below the Tredje Niveau is the semi-professional Liga Føderal. Every season, two teams are promoted or relegated between the three tiers of Liga Calveth. The worst team in the Tredje Niveau competes against the best team in the Liga Føderal’s top tier in what is called the Forløsningskamp, the last place team’s final chance to hold onto professional status. If they lose, they are relegated to the Liga Føderal and the semi-professional team is promoted.

Parallel to seasonal play, all teams from across the three tiers of Liga Calveth compete in The Palace Cup, seeded according to their tier and standings from the past three seasons. This is a single-elimination knockout tournament with the finals held at Kolvanstaad's Palace Field, the Calveth National Team's home stadium.

Øverste Niveau

The highest tier in the Liga Calveth, and one of the most widely watched Vola tiers in Meridian. Like all three tiers in the Liga Calveth, the Øverste Niveau includes twenty teams from across the country. Every season, the lowest two teams drop down to the Andet Niveau, while the two best teams from the Andet Niveau are promoted.

The Øverste Niveau is not quite as prestigious or competitive as some of the top leagues in Crucera, but the top teams in Calveth (such as Kongresåg Fornet or the Trowheim Travelers) have gone toe-to-toe with respectable teams across Crucera in international friendlies in the past. Liga Calveth’s reputation as a respectable “secondary” league to Crucera means the absolute best in Calveth often move on across the ocean, while the best across the rest of the world with less ingrained Vola culture end up here.
